Originating in Persia (Iran) and called “Boteh Jegheh” this twisted teardrop design was originally a design of the Zoroastrianism religion and represents the Cypress Tree a symbol of life and eternity.  It is very appropriate then as a design for your sports clothing, wearing the design of life and eternity will hopefully inspire your sporting endeavours.  The Western name comes the Scottish town of Paisley where the weavers there produced shawls with this pattern that had become popular from 1600 onwards.
